THE BRAND
Founded by GIA certified gemmologist Sophie Whitelaw, Whitelaw Gold offers a more affordable and personalised alternative to London’s luxury jewellery houses.
Creating beautiful, bespoke pieces is treated as a collaborative experience with every individual customer or couple; your vision is at the forefront of our design, whether a colourful engagement ring or a chain for everyday wear.
Sophie is based between London’s Hatton Garden and at home in SW1. Our solid gold chains are made in Italy and bespoke jewels are handmade in Hatton Garden.
OUR FOUNDER
Sophie began her career in fine jewellery between university semesters working at Annoushka, Boodles and De Beers Diamond Jewellery. After graduating in Art History from the University of St Andrews, she went on to study gemmology at HRD in Antwerp, the historic diamond capital of the world, before returning to Annoushka to further her career as PR and Brand Partnerships Coordinator.
Eager to develop further, Sophie moved to New York City to study at the Gemmological Institute of America on the iconic 47th Street, where she graduated as a gemmologist. Her growing network of international gemstone dealers and local workshops combined with a continued frustration with the large markup on fine jewellery has allowed her to be competitive with her prices.
